Not many folks are willing to disclose a live auction, but it seems even less are willing to disclose if they won. None of us here are likely to fight amongst ourselves in auctions, as a matter of fact we encourage others to build up their collections. Often we'd rather a friend buy an item than for us to feel compelled to bid because the price is so cheap.
Got a good score, or for that matter bought anything? Please post your eBay brags here!

Won a nice little lot last week that contained an early or first generation Eleanore/Sandy, an Iris with the eye stem, and an Alvin as well. All are the softer rubber which seems to be synonymous with the earlier productions. Also got a second gen Artie in excellent shape for a very nice price. Overpaid for an Al but he is white and I really like the uglies that are made of white rubber. On certain molds the white often seem more difficult to locate. Still looking for an early Steve or Rita or another Lou to add to the family! None of this is intended to brag but rather to hopefully create some additional conversation. Thanks to all for the information one can discover on this forum! monsterman1962

Please take a pic of your treasures and post em for all to see. I think we all would love to see pics of your amputated Doc if you find the time, that's a rare piece no matter what condition he's in.

Those are wonderful. The Doc is fantastic, I'm still kicking myself for not being around when that auction ended. The other tree guy is refered to as Pat on the Norman Saunders site, but's it's really just a cool tree Monster with Al's bottom half. I don't have one of those guys in my collection yet. Right now I'm on Cloud 9. For ages I've been seeking a vending card with a typical larval ugly on it, and I think I just found something even better! Check out this 10c card with what appears to be some really pitiful copy of Dorothy on it! Vending machines were typically priced at 10cents in the 60s/early 70s, and non dedicated cards with multiple "prizes" were usually only marked at 5cents by greedy independent vendors that rarely offered the prizes that they shrink-wrapped onto the cards. Being that it is a random independent vendor card that is marked at a whopping 10 cents, I'll have to date this as no earlier than mid-late 70s with the unattainable prize surely being the brass cigarette lighter. Possibly someone else can date this better if they are familiar with this large Larva. This is a Dorothy variation that I think I've never seen, and I'd guess that the size is a very large larva, much like how say a normal full-size Alvin is in compared to the size of a Kenneth. I'll post better pics when she arrives! I hope that the true pro, Astronit, can tell us all more about this what I think is a jumbo Larva ugly. All I know is that it's small, supposed to be Dorothy, and Mint on a vending Card!

I couldn't give much information about it without seeing it up close and comparing it to other versions. But your description of gumball machine prizes and the price does date it to the 1970's.

Thanks. After discussing with you on Flickr, I'm pretty sure that we can determine that this is probably standard larva size if the vending card is between 5"-5 1/2". We'll have to wait and see when it arrives. One other feature that stands out to me is that it has a paintjob (green paint, black pupils, red mini mouth tentacles), similar to your unique Joel Larva (Yellow paint, white eyeballs). Maybe these were from the same set? Do you remember what year that you got that Joel as a kid, or was it a purchase made later in life?

These puppies came in a recent lot that just arrived. Got a sweet Kenneth with vivid green paint, a Paula missing almost all her legs, a Daniel missing one bat and both his feet and a Steve missing his hands. I don't care what anyone says, I think all uglies are beautiful.

I just received this white rubber "Al" yesterday and must admit I am very pleased! No damage of any kind and his paint is very nice. He may very well be the new favorite in my collection! I wanted to share a picture with the rest of the members! Attachments:

That's a great piece - the opaque white Uglies are just so different.

Just wanted to post a picture of 3 new mean green uglies that I have added to the family. They were acquired through a couple of recent actions and negotiations. I am happy to have them as they are pretty cool! Attachments:

Thanks for the offer but it looks as if being patient paid off which was some good advice given by you and Astronit. Thanks for the comment about Ralph, he really is a great early mold. As for the Paula, that is the first one I have acquired from that particular set. There is a circular manufacture mark under her bottom jaw and I was wondering if you know anything about that or what company produced that line of uglies. I am assuming those are from the 70's or 80's. anyway if you have any info please let me know. Thanks again. monsterman1962

Was wondering who bought the Paula! I think we've concluded that this set is probably from the 80s, but who knows. The A$ copyright symbol is the same that can be seen on early moon-men/invaders rubber jiggly toys. I believe Astronit said the logo was from a company named Brabbo? He knows a lot more about older toys than I do, we'll have to wait to hear what he says. Congrats again on your new additions.

Just scored this neat little lot on eBay. Two white remakes including a Rita, a Gumball Iris, and a remake Alvin. Not so shabby if I may say so myself.
