Hello Forum. I'm the chap who just sold a Carl for £350. I wonder if anyone can help solve a mystery. Who is the Ugly in the attached picture? He doesn't feature in any of the googled lists. Why I'm sure he is a genuine Ugly is because I bought him (in fact two of them). Also I have loads of non-genuine types, so I know the difference. Critically he has the identical 'Hong Kong' stamp underneath as for example on an Iris/Joel, meaning the same jaunty lettering. So who is he or she? Does anyone else have one? Attachments:

You can see that the Moon Bug was part of the original series of Rubber Uglies in this picture. Kreepy Kreatures by Astronit.

Now I'm confused - the Deiner toys look like hard plastic, thoughbased on the same design. Then there's the Jiggle-lo: I have the same model in red rubber with a sucker on his back. Quite a lot bigger than an Ugly. In the attached pic I show an Iris for comparison. Given that Deiner ripped off the Shaky design, I 'm guessing they did the same with the Jiggle-Lo? Attachments:

Hey chancre, Don't know what your confused about, most rubber creature figures were not named. Only the Topps Ugly Stickers monsters that made it into 3D rubber form have been named (some in multiples) so it really doesn't matter what you call them in your ebay auction listing. You can name your "Moon Bug" Gertrude if you like.
As for the Diener figures, yes they are quite different than the rubber ugly type materials. Both Jiggle-Lo and Shacky were copied in several forms. I too had a Jiggle-Lo and a Spooky with a suction cup on their back and a different RDF version. Both have been copied by several manufactures.
There is a lot of variation in these characters. That’s why they are so fun to collect.

Thanks for the info. I was just confused because all the other Uglies seemed to get named at some time. I know the other ranges were more variable, also we didn't get the same releases in the UK the Dieners for example. The attachment shows 5 other unnamed creatures. I'm pretty sure sure no 1 was a Rubber Ugly, No 2 the tree, I can't remember, 3 and 5 no idea, no.4 was known as a 'Cross-eyed critter' over here - I have a few of that series. Recognise any of this bunch? Attachments:

Most definitely have seen each of those figures in your "Mixed Bag" photo. Nothing to outlandish, just generic creatures from other release issues. None were from the stock that your Carl came from.
Will be looking forward to more of your Rubber Ugly pictures and auctions.
Thanks,
