Hey all. I have a question concerning "Paula" (Ugly sticker #14). Is she a true Ugly? I know that the basic criteria for being an "Ugly" is to be based directly from the corresponding Topps Ugly sticker. Since there is no real official factory checklist or anything listing exactly every Ugly, it's kind of a "see which sticker this Ugly matches, if any" kinda thing. And some of the rubber figures on the Saunders site that have been associated with certain stickers "such as Pat and Karen) are obviously not true "Uglies", since those figures do not resemble the critters on the corresponding cards at all.
However, Paula seems to be kind of an anomaly. The diet doesn't seem to consider her a true Ugly, yet she seems to pretty much look like the figure on the sticker (not in that reclining pose of course, but the animal seems to have all the same body parts, etc.). Much more so that any of the others, like Pat and the spider/crab Melvin, who are listed as "relatives" and such, but not true Uglies.
So, is the consensus here that the Saunders site is the Last Word and Paula isn't really am actual Ugly, or that she is? Personally, I think the rubber figure of Paula looks close enough to sticker #14 for her to be considered an Ugly.
Thoughts?

I appreciate the Norm Saunders site information and all but the Rubber Creature shown next to the Paula sticker was certainly not in the early Topps Rubber Ugly " Teacher's Pet" series. For those folks reading this who are unfamiliar with the discussion about Paula see the attached. www.normansaunders.com/RUgly,02.html Attachments:

So is there an actual list of the critters who comprised the original Teacher's Pet series? Or is the definitive list all of the ones on the Saunders site that are NOT referred to as "close relatives"?

So far no one I know has put together a definitive list of the very first series of "Teacher's Pets." I don't think it would be too difficult, many of the forum members are old enough to have been collecting them in the 1960's and have vivid memories of the pieces we had as kids. I could take a shot at it by making a photo list. After that if anyone had additions or corrections we could work through it.
I just don't know the value of identifying that information would be. Does anyone else care to know this?
