I came here from the Universal Monster Army. One of your members mentioned this group there. You will probably have other UMA members coming to check it out. We will try not to muddy up the carpet.

I've been collecting rubber toys for more than 20 years. My favorites are figural monsters from companies like Ben Cooper and AHI. But I have a fair share of Rubber Uglies, too.

I call my rubber toys "jigglers," as do pretty much all the collectors I know. But I observed that, on this forum, that term is reserved for the Russ Berrie-type oily rubber toys. I have never collected those. Too expensive, and most are not monstery enough for my taste. I have one or two Cal Themes jigglers, which are similar, but no RB. But I have seen a few pictured on these boards that push my monster button pretty hard, so maybe I will pay more attention to them in the future. There are a few devils and martian-looking critters I'd like to own.

I have hundreds of other rubber toys, including several counter display boxes. Most are monsters or creepy crawly creatures, but I also have a lot of Imperial Toy Co. "zoo" animals and Ben Cooper superheroes and cartoon characters.

My biggest rubber toy "wants" right now are the Chlorophyll Monster from Mad Doctor of Blood Island, and a carded Chemtoy Jaws shark. I have Chemtoy Jaws toys loose with stickers, but not carded.

I will post some of my Uglies in the appropriate areas. I have already learned a few things tonight, browsing other members' posts. It looks like an interesting place.

Hi Ray, how are you? I believe I saw you on the Universal Monster Army board! I am Jeff. Welcome! I am kinda new here too! I just fairly recently got into the Rubber Uglies realm but these guys here kinda pointed me in the right direction! I actually am more of a Marx/MPC dinosaur collector but have gotten quite interested in the Uglies as well!

Hello! Dino collecting is cool. I'm not into it myself, but I enjoy looking at pictures of other people's dino collections. I have a few rubber and pvc dinosaurs.

Hi there jiggler people. I'm really keen to know what the name is for the actual substance that the old jigglers were made from...the Ben Cooper and general rubber monster type of creature that is. I am an artist and am making jiggler like objects using latex but this isnt ideal. I'd really love to be able to use the sort of plastic the old ones are made from. Does anyone know what the substance is? I've seen people making fishing lures on you tube using a heatable plastic but this material is very springy and elastic.

I'd also been extremely keen to hear about how the real things were made ..i.e. what the moulds were like etc. Do these moulds still exist? does anyone have some?

Any info most gratefully received.

Hi Ringy! I am afraid I can't be much help...I just wanted to say hi & welcome you to the Rubber Uglies forum. I am afraid it doesn't seemt o get much traffic these days, no not sure when you'd get an answer. I am fairly new here myself and apparently there used to be alot more participation and postings in teh past (from reading thru old posts) but folks seem to have gotten other interests or just don't post anymore (in fact, that seemed to be rather soon after I joined...hmmmm......? LOL)

Anyway, welcome and I hope you get your answer soon from one of the experts here!!!
