More thoughts.My guess based on everything I've seen so far is that the originals were mostly sold loose and not in a named set. Possible some originals made it into some named sets like teachers pets and horror pets. The originals my dad has they were won as prizes at the dutchess county fair in the late 60s. Most of his are crazy soft and made of the brownish- orange almost translucent rubber which seems to be a rare way to find them. Also besides the obvious 2nd generation changes does anyone know how to tell what a true iris or sandy is?
I will try to post pictures of his later today.
Also the boxes of horror pets posted on here you can see from the Kenneth's that they are not 1st generation uglies. I believe the first Kenneth's have the more detailed back with knobs or bumps and not the real smooth back. One more thought. Seems to me the bigger more detailed ones say made in Hong Kong vs Hong Kong.

I very much agree with the rubber being extra soft on first gens. or originals.
