Hello, Found this forum and thought I would sign up as I am rather fond of these ugly little critters! I had a great collection when I was young but sadly they were either given away to younger cousins by my mom or even worse, thrown away! I currently have built a nice little grouping and am always looking for new additions. I now see a "Lou" on EBay with a buy it now price of $119.00! That seems a little high as I have a really nice "Lou" and I know I only spent a very small fraction of that price to obtain him! Anyway, greetings to everyone and if you have any info you would like to share my ears and eyes are open! Thanks, monsterman1962

Welcome monsterman: Love that screen name. I think most of us here have 'lost' memories and toys that we are trying to reconnect with. As for the high BIN price on ebay, nothing prevents a seller from listing the price that they are willing to part with something for. If that "Lou" figure sold for that amount I'd like to know what the buyer was thinking. This forum is developing quite nicely into information sharing. Please feel free to share pictures and thoughts about all things jiggly.

Thanks for the reply! The monsterman1962 has been my ebay name for quite some time, after we had to stop using our emails as a user name. Monsterman was an obvious choice because I love all that is "monster" and 1962 being the year I was born. I am attempting (I hope successfully) to post a picture of some of my favorite uglies from my collection to share. They I believe are all 1st gens or close as they all are marked "Made In Hong Kong" rather than just "Hong Kong". I hope people will enjoy looking at them and please feel free to comment. Thanks again! Attachments:

Welcome Monsterman1962. Nice set of Uglies you have. As for that Lou, being patient is the key. Some recent Ebay rubber uglies went for a fraction of what's Lou is going at. This is a fun hobby for sure. I'm pretty sure all of us on the board were born from the late 50's to the early 60's.

Thanks! I have several others not pictured but those are some of my favorites from the classic set. I remember all of those when they first came out as I purchased them from the local dime stores (McCroys and such), actually my father gave me the money to buy them! They are a wonderful part of Americana and were very prominent in my early youth. We played for hours with those guys, tying them to homemade parachutes, throwing them in the local pool, hiding, trading, etc. Cool memories of a simple and fun time being a kid in the 60's!

Welcome to the forum, Monsterman! I like your James with the protruding pupils, you don't see those all that often. This is a great time for this hobby. As more people became aware that these little toys are collectible, I find that they are showing up on eBay more and more often (and at great prices too I might add!)

Thanks for the encouraging words and welcome. Everyone on the Forum has been most kind! That 'James" is one of my favorites as well. A really cool trader from Chicago sent him to me several years back and I too have not seen another recently with the original protruding eyeballs. "Daniel" might be my absolute favorite mold as I have 6 different ones but only 2 are 1st Editions. He was my favorite from childhood. I do have a "Lou" but I just like the one that is posted on EBay because of the green color. I would really like to have an Albert or a Doc but they do not come up in auction all that often. Thanks again as I really enjoy being part of this awesome site!

Thanks again as I really enjoy being part of this awesome site! Thanks for the kind words, this forum is full of very knowledgeable and helpful people. So you already have 6 Daniels? You need to post more pics of your stuff! Albert isn't as hard to come by as people make it sound, I've seen plenty of them. There was a Doc missing his arms and legs that just sold for $9.99, I was watching the auction but was very busy when it ended. Doc is much harder to find than Albert, but I'm still not 100% convinced that Doc isn't a PVC Animal. Heck, many people aren't convinced that Albert is a true rubber Ugly either. As for the green Lou, I'd just wait. While these toys should easily be worth an easy $119, the market hasn't caught up yet. I wouldn't take all too long to buy, as the search term "rubber uglies" is catching on quick. As ironic as it may sound, 1 year ago you would have been lucky to buy ANY rubber ugly for $25. Now it is much easier to find them and cheaper. Here's my Lou's, but as you can see the green guy is in terrible shape:

Hello, Thanks for writing! I will post some more pics tomorrow if you would like to see them. I was the guy who got the armless, legless, Doc and I am certain he is one of the PVC animals. All uglies need a good home! I don't want to sound forward but if you would want to part with that green Lou I would be interested even though he is a little beat up! Thanks again and I promise to share more pictures!

Hey! As promised I am posting some pics of my "Uglies". Both of the Daniel's in the middle of each row are I believe originals as their rubber is much softer and they are marked MADE IN HONG KONG verses HONG KONG. I also posted a close up shot of James in order for others to see the bulging eyes. He is the only one I have like that and I don't know if I have seen any others like him before. The added bonus is that he is green with red paint, an awesome combination! The last pic is a variety of others that I did not post the first time. I have put them on for all to enjoy. Hope to hear from you and others in the forum soon! monsterman1962 Attachments:

;D Newbie here! Collecting jigglers since seeing my first black, sponge rubber alligator at Silver Springs, Florida: 1957! I have created a YAHOO! group, ''rubberfigs'' that hosts a multitude of images found on the web, which is all I can really afford to collect now that I am semi-retired. Happy to be on board!
