What is your favorite and most desirable rubber ugly character? Without a doubt, mine would be Iris aka Joel. Here are the 3 I have. A later version on the left, an early in the middle and most likely a 1st generation on the right. I thought the bottom of the 1st generation was kinda unusual. I think I might of sold one to Monsterman1962 with that square shape on the underside. Anyway, let's see that one rubber ugly that is your favorite. Dave.

For those who know my collection it’s no surprise that Joel too is my favorite RU. I find the grossness factor in the separating eyeball and the tentacles just too appealing. BTW: All my 1st Gen JOEL’s have that scoop of rubber on their undersides along with the HK stamp. But they all look different, very hand-made) I should take some pictures of that feature sometime. Oh boy, this is a really tough question for me to answer. Joel is at the top of my list, but I find so many of the sculpts to be wonderful. I guess I'm a bit partial to Rita, the clumsy looking cyclops.

Since everyone seems to really like Joel I thought I would post mine along with Paula. I always loved this mold as a kid but I am more partial to others as an adult. None the less, I wanted to go with the flow! Attachments:

I still can't make a solid choice. Before I first clicked on this thread months ago, Joel was the first that came to mind. All I can say is that there is a little something to love about all of them.
I think that's why I like P.V.C. Animals so much. They are lovely Frankenstein toys made from random rubber ugly attributes to create a single fantasy creature.
When it comes to uglies, or any other toy for that matter, I think certain base rubber/paint color combinations can really bring a toy to life more than others.

I agree 100% that color is very important. I am very partial to green as the base rubber color as I have a lot of favorites that would look cool even without paint because they are green. True red as a rubber color is cool as well but very hard to come by. I have one Daniel and one Al that are red. Not to be confused with the very dark orange rubber.

I am really starting to like Paula, even though she may not even be an actual Ugly. That purple/yellow one of Astronit's that I seem to see everywhere is to die for!
I have one but it appears to be a later reissue of rather flimsy orange rubber (but I guess it will do till I can get my hands on a first-generation one!).
I also am partial to the only four I ever had as a kid: Joel, Steve, Florence, and Alvin (of course I didn't know their names back then!). I distinctly remember having these 4 when I was a kid...I may have had others (I know my brother & I had a crap-ton of rubber critters we kept in a metal box!) but these are the only 4 I remember having that were actual Uglies. So I have always been a bit sentimental to these guys! :-)
