I am so glad that you beat on ebay me from winning that excellent Dorthy figure. Yeah, I really wanted it... as you said there has been a long spell of very little offerings coming up recently. However, I did score this one good looking Al figure. Al by Astronit, on Flickr

I am sorry Astronit but any time I see an older Dorothy I have to bid especially if it is green or a dark color. Very nice Al though! I have a similar piece and it is one of my favorites.

Always a pleasure to do business with you Gary. I'm down to five and will eventually build up again. Dave.

Here are my Al's with a few Eleanor's as well. I keep them in old fruit boxes in the basement where it is cool. I really think a display case would be nice as the ones posted on this site are fantastic but I am concerned about the plastic reacting to the Uglies as I have seen happen in the past.

He is easily one of my favorites now and when I was a kid back in the 60's! I can still see the counter by the register in McCroy's five and dime store with the box of Uglies setting right there as people checked out. I would sift through them looking for an odd color or cool paint job. I also was a big fan of Alvin back then especially the white one with red and green paint. I have one similar to that now. Great memories of a long forgotten store. The building is still there and oddly enough it is now an Ollies store which sells similar items as McCroy's did in the past. The register area seems almost the same which is crazy because I am now 53. I go in there from time to time which puts a smile on my face as I can still picture the good old days!

In fact surfandturf just posted a picture of his Uglies with an Alvin similar to mine and much like the one I had as a kid.

That is an amazing collection of Al figures. I have never seen a white variety before; it is quite interesting. I love the blue colored Uglies and yours are awesome! I have very similar memories about going to "Ben Franklin's 5 & 10". Walking the alley from my Grandpa and Grandma's house; just over a mile. I was seven then and it was quite the adventure to get these rubber creatures every weekend. I am 54 years myself and I love the memories these Uglies bring back. Since AL is your favorite and you are using his Avatar; here is the whole picture.

Thank you Astronit for the kind words, posting the full picture of AL, and yes that white Al is quite unique I believe. Also in response to hilariah I am that same monsterman1962! It was a pleasure and I am glad he went to a great new home. You have the Uglies collecting spirit and I am sure your monster family will grow quite nicely!
